Under normal circumstances, the egg is released from the ovary each month during the middle of the menstrual cycle. The egg then has the opportunity to be fertilized in the tube and get implanted in the uterus for a successful pregnancy.
However, many women ovulate infrequently or not at all. In these circumstances, as well as for women with unexplained infertility and those undergoing IVF cycle, the ovulation can be induced by different fertility drugs.
Ovulation induction in this manner increases the number of ovulations per cycle hence increasing the chances of successful pregnancy.
